5. Set up the following:

  • Synchronization of DNS zone with the primary domain: If enabled, the DNS zone of the domain alias will be in sync with the primary domain’s zone. Any changes in the primary domain’s DNS zone will automatically be applied to the alias’s DNS zone.  Note: If a domain alias’s DNS zone is synced with the primary domain, you won’t be able to modify resource records in the alias’s DNS zone.
  • Mail service: Plesk doesn’t allow you to create mailboxes under domain aliases, and the primary domain’s mailboxes are used instead. If you select the Mail service option, mailboxes created under the primary domain will also be available under the alias. Plesk redirects mail sent to mailboxes under the alias to corresponding mailboxes under the primary domain so that users can read the mail.
  • Web service: If enabled, the website will open in the browser at the alias’s URL. If the Web service check box is cleared, the alias will only be used for mail, as long as Mail Service is selected.
  • Redirect with the HTTP 301 code: Plesk uses web server internal redirection for aliases by default. The alias appears to be a separate website to visitors and search engines, causing a problem – search engines index the alias content separately, so your primary domain will lose search engine rankings. To avoid this, use redirection with HTTP 301 code by selecting this option, so only the primary domain will rank in search engines.

6. Click OK to save your changes.
